Back to school is just around the corner so where do you actually buy a laptop for your kids? I know they were whine (wine?) and dine you and tell you where to get the best laptop for them but you’ve got to ask, where’s the best deal?
One of the best places to get a laptop is actually Best Buy. Why? They have stores all over the country, meaning that your kids can go talk to someone (and/or return merchandise) in any of the stores nationwide. In addition, you can get support from their Geek Squad unit, which will help you no matter where you are located.
Amazon is a good place because it has awesome customer support, so I always recommend it. Many people think of them as a books store, but I’m sure the computer you are looking at is available on their website.
Campus stores are great to buy a laptop because they offer incredible discounts. Why? For one, they buy in bulk and for two, computer companies know that many people stick with the brand they are familiar with, so what better place than to get you while you are still in college?
I didn’t think Overstock.com offered that much but when I got to the website, I was amazed by the selection. They had tons of choices and best of all, there are so many coupons readily available!
I loved Circuit City. I don’t know why but they always had what I wanted so it was really sad to see them go out of business. Some people got really cool deals towards the end though. Hopefully someone will revive the brand.
I never knew about Fry’s Electronics until I came to the west coast. The warehouse like store is awesome because prices are usually a little cheaper. Just be careful because the salespeople work on commission and they try really hard to sell you extra insurance and protection that you don’t need.
I used to love going into mom and pop computer stores because you can ask them so many questions about each model and they will tell you. It’s too bad that most of them are out of business but were you ever to find one that’s still in business, give it some support.
